Just Give Me Jesus

Thank you all for bearing with me on my post regarding the Federal Reserve.  I wrote that late last night and I wasn’t quite sure how it would be received, so I appreciate your encouragement.  A few days ago I was sitting with our daughter at the dinner table.  She was doing homework and I was looking through Twitter.  I was thinking about all the different viewpoints in Christianity and the different denominations and all the arguments.  I was also thinking about the legalistic people I dealt with when I first started blogging.  I looked over at our daughter and said, “You know honey, when people start talking a bunch of crazy religious stuff and they want to argue about all these things, I just say, just give me Jesus.”

She just looked over at me and smiled.  I said, “We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, so just stick with Jesus.  Draw close to Him and talk with Him for the rest of your life.  He loves you.”  My daughter’s smile showed she appreciates her relationship with Jesus very much.  I pray both of our kids will love Jesus first all the days of their lives!

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9

Just give me Jesus!  He is my everything!  He comforts me and lifts me up!  He is my strength and joy!  He is my salvation and peace!  He is my Lord and Savior!  I am not ashamed of Jesus and I love Him with all my heart!  I don’t want religion, never did, never will.  I want a deep lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ!  How about you?

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.  My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.  I and the Father are one.”

Jesus speaking in John 10:27-30

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Jesus speaking in John 3:16

Remember this, only Jesus Christ can save souls!  We overcome the evil one, sin, and death by His blood through faith in Him alone!  Just give me Jesus!

Grace and peace to you all!

  1. The simplest messages most often have the greatest impact. Amen!!! Love this post, Ryan…and like you used my picture, looks good on your blog. When I was there on the farm I was exploring with my camera, I saw the cows so walked over and was so excited see the scripture painted on the barn for all those who pass by! “Just give me Jesus,” should be painted on a red barn, too.

  2. Yaay, I needed to read this right now. Reminds me of 1 Corinthians 2:2 Amplified Bible (AMP):
2 for I made the decision to [a]know nothing [that is, to forego philosophical or theological discussions regarding inconsequential things and opinions while] among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified [and the meaning of His redemptive, substitutionary death and His resurrection].

  3. Ryan, It amazes me how many times I read the blog of a fellow writer and I see that God has put the same message on both our hearts. Your message today is like that because it’s our relationship with God that is most important. Blessings, my friend!

    1. Thanks! After preaching for almost 23 years now, I have just about heard it all. People get themselves all wrapped up into legalistic nonsense and it’s sad. I pray we all never forget our first love and we remember it’s all about Jesus! Yeah, I love that photo too. Powerful verse and the cow is funny just staring right at the camera like that. 🙂 God bless!
