Enter 2021 In Forgiveness

Well, we made it! Today is the last day of 2020, praise God! As 2021 approaches, many people are making new years resolutions. The main thing the Lord has put on my heart is forgiveness. As we enter a new year, let us move forward by letting go of past wrongs and living in the fullness of God’s forgiveness. Forgiveness for others and forgiveness for ourselves. May we not ever keep a record of wrongs in our hearts as that will only weigh us down and burden our souls with bitterness, and that is no way to start a new year. We must forgive as Jesus has forgiven us in order to live in the fullness of His peace and love.

Whatever you may have against someone else or even yourself, let it go. Give it to God and pray forgiveness over it all! When you believe in Jesus, God does not keep a record of wrongs on you. He does not count our sins against us. He removes them from us as far as the east is from the west, and remembers them no more! As God’s Word says, love keeps no record of wrongs.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

“For as high as the heavens are above

the earth,

so great is his love for those who fear

him;

as far as the east is from the west,

so far has he removed our

transgressions from us.”

-Psalm 103:11-12

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.”

-2 Corinthians 5:17-19

We must forgive each other. Not one of us is better than the other. We have all sinned and made mistakes, and we all need forgiveness. How does God want us to forgive? He wants us to forgive as Christ forgave us! Think about how powerful and complete His forgiveness is, and forgive like Jesus forgave you!

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

-Ephesians 4:31-32

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

-Colossians 3:12-14

Let us enter 2021 in the full power of His forgiveness, and live out that glorious forgiveness every day! Sweep away the offenses as God has done for you, and move forward into the new year in His grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love!

“I have swept away your offenses like a

cloud,

your sins like the morning mist.

Return to me,

for I have redeemed you.”

-Isaiah 44:22

“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?”

Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”

-Matthew 18:21-22

What Jesus meant by that is we are to forgive an unlimited number of times just as He forgives us. Not one of us has the right to be unforgiving or hold a bitter grudge against anyone. Let us always remember what Jesus truly did for us on that cross, and let us always offer that same love and forgiveness to others.

“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

-John 19:30

Thank You, Jesus for forgiving us completely! Please help us love and forgive as You love and forgive us! In your Holy Name, amen!

    Since God put this in your heart, could you maybe make a blog about those people who have WAY harder things to forgive than just some unpaid borrowed money or gossip? Like, if someone is the victim of an assault or such thing? The kind of stuff that changes your life? That would be very helpful, thanks and God bless! 🙂

      3. Ah, thanks so much 🙂 I was just telling someone else that I should stop asking too much in blogs, haha. It’s okay. Thanks for acknowledging that it isn’t easy sometimes, but we still must.

  4. Ryan, what a wonderful, perfect way to start the new year…forgiving others and forgiving ourselves. Thank you, Jesus!! There is no better gift than being forgiven. I’ve seen it happen and it’s a beautiful thing that changes a person’s life, for both the person being forgiven and the person doing the forgiving. It heals your heart and takes away the hurt. And, forgiving ourselves is not always easy, but when we do we honor Jesus. We know Jesus has completely wiped our sins away and this is such a blessing. Praise God. What a beautiful gift of forgiveness God has given us. Thank you, Ryan, for this beautiful post! Here’s to a Happy, happy New Year! So much to look forward to. Love you, Mom and Dad

Forgiving others for inflicting great trauma, sin, trespasses, violations of body, soul or spirit, betrayals, abandonments, abuse, neglect, or any of the horrific crimes of humanity against humanity, does not let them off the hook but frees us as we receive the forgiveness of God through the Cross of Christ to be able to give forgiveness to others, AND know that the Holy Bible says, “Vengeance is mine, says the Lord.” The ruler of this world is judged and those who refuse to repent and return to God our Father through Jesus to receive His Holy Spirit, will be judged on the appointed day. The Spirit of the Lord, anointed Christ Jesus,, brings good news to the afflicted, binds up the broken hearted, frees us, proclaims the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, comforting those who mourn (Isaiah 61:1-11). If we do not forgive, we are kept on the same hook of sin, blame, shame, guilt, condemnation, offense, unforgiveness, unrepentance, unredeemed, as the offenders, perpetrators, thieves who come to steal, kill and destroy our lives. Forgiveness of sins, Redemption, is found in the kingdom of the Beloved Son when we are delivered from the dominion of darkness and transferred into the Son of Righteousness. From Christ’s Victory over the Cross we can forgive the worst violations because Jesus suffered worse than any other person, marred beyond human recognition, yet still said on the cursed cross, “Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing.” So we know that offenders and most perpetrators were most likely offended against and never taught about Jesus and his forgiveness and salvation; hurt people hurt people; but God! can do what is impossible with men and make it possible in us!   13. So true, Ryan. Forgiveness is the key to enter 2021. We have to stop playing the blame game and simply forgive and move on. I pray that goodness and mercy will always follow you in the New Year.

  18. happy new year for you and your family my brother, I have not finished reading all your blogs because I have to translate them into Spanish, but they are useful in everything for me even in my training that I am doing to learn the English language, on the boat of God forgiveness is like that anchor, like blood in our veins, like life in our life, Jesus Christ if it had not been for the one who would be of us, forgive as he forgiven, always remember his forgiveness for us to be free, and obtain without difficulties the eternal life…📖✒💎
