Hello friends and family and God bless you all! It is good to be writing today. I didn’t write the last couple days because I have been suffering through pain, nausea, and intense gut cramping due to Celiac. Interesting that it happens during the most important time of the year for sharing the Gospel. With that and having to discipline the kids, make more meals, and do a lot more dishes all day, it has been very difficult to write. I appreciate your prayers. Today is Passover and I would like to share the prayers that Jesus prayed the night before His crucifixion.
Jesus said these prayers at the end of the last supper just before He was arrested that same night. He knew He was going to be crucified the next day as God’s sacrificial lamb and His prayers reflect that mission. You will find these prayers in John chapter 17. I will share all 26 verses with you here, so you have the full text. There is great power in these prayers and they are being answered even now!
Jesus Prays for Himself
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
John 17:1-5
Jesus Prays for His Disciples
“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name–the name you gave me–so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by your truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
John 17:6-19
Jesus Prays for All Believers
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
John 17:20-26
Amen Lord, may Your will be done! Can you imagine sitting at that meal with Jesus and hearing Him pray all that?! That prayer He prayed for all believers includes you, me, and anyone in the whole world who believes in Jesus! The very night before He died, Jesus was thinking about us! We were on His heart as He prepared to face the cross, and His beautiful prayer echoes throughout eternity to the glory of God!
Someday, those who believe in Jesus will be with Him in glory and we will see His glory face to face! Jesus was with the Father before the world began and He has all authority over mankind to give us eternal life! Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Lamb of God, and the Lion of Judah, and anyone who believes in Jesus will be saved!
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.”
John 1:1-5
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9
“for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13
This Passover, as we pray for the plague of Coronavirus to pass over us, let us remember the prayers of Jesus and His heart of love for us the night before He died for us. He does not want anyone to perish. Jesus is the perfect sinless sacrifice for the sins of the whole world! It is His Blood that forgives our sins and sets us free! It is His Blood that covers our families in protection! We have all sinned and we all need a Savior, and we must put our faith in Jesus to be saved! Do not fear the virus! Trust in Jesus!
“Therefore, since we have such a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Hebrews 4:14-16
Grace and peace to you all!
Praying for you, Bro.

Amen and Amen! This prayer is powerful. I often prayed it over my life and family. Jesus knew the tribulation we will suffer in this world and so He prayed for us. Thank God He suffered so that we can be saved and have hope. Praise the Lord! Thank you for sharing and as usual I pray that the Lord will cover you and family and heal your body totally. Amen.

You are always in my prayers, Ryan, for having good healthy days, healing, happiness, and well-being, and for your family, too! I’m sorry the last few days have been filled with feeling sick and having pain again, I sure hope and pray you’re better now, and things with the family has settled down. I know it is taking some use to with everyone being out of their routines, stress of juggling more. Difficult for the children…but, it’s hard for all of us, too, not being able to have the freedom of getting out like we did, and wondering when it will end, which it will, ” Praise God”. Kids, parents, and the teachers in our families are dealing with their online schooling, the kids missing their friends, not having their activities to burn off steam, and missing some of the independence they had….that we all had. I know I miss mine. I think it is good and helpful to separate from each other for an hour or two, and have some me time and Jesus time. Thank you, for writing such meaningful posts, Ryan, it is so appreciated. We are blessed by your desire to share The Word and thank God for giving you this calling. For this Passover it was very comforting to read and take to heart Jesus’ prayers to God, to his disciples, and all his believers.
Thank you, Jesus, thank you, your resurrection was the pledge and promise of our own resurrection, Praise Almighty God! “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus”. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 Amen, Ryan. Love you, Mom

Amen Mom, beautifully said! Yes, it has been hard for the kids. We make sure they go outside to play every day. Just the backyard. It’s been warming up here and it has been really nice around 70゚the last few days, so we have all enjoyed the sun. I am feeling better tonight and I am very thankful for that. God is good! Love you!

Thank you dear friend for sharing this gospel today and in this season. Whenever I read of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane, where he asked the disciples to watch with Him for one hour and came and found them sleeping. Then when He asked … “My Father, if it is not possible that this cup pass without my drinking it, your will be done”… always brings me to tears for the sacrifice that we often take so lightly.
I am so grateful to you for this post. Thank you.
