Praising God For Saving Kanye

During my break from blogging in October, there was a lot of drama about Kanye West coming to Jesus and his new album titled “JESUS IS KING.”  I saw some believers accepting him and welcoming him, and I saw others judging and condemning him.  I wanted to hear it from the man himself, so I bought his album and I have been watching interviews where he shares his testimony.  I believe this man has had a deep encounter with Jesus and I praise God for it!  The Lord can save anyone and I give Jesus big praise for saving Kanye West!  As I tweeted to Kanye the other day, welcome to the family brother!

No, I don’t know Kanye personally and he doesn’t know me.  He has about 30 million followers on Twitter, so he might not ever see my tweet, but I wanted to welcome him and let him know I am praying for him.  He is my brother in Christ now!  I prayed for him to come to Jesus many times.  I pray for all kinds of famous people to accept Jesus.  Nothing is impossible for God!

I can relate to Kanye and the worldly life he lived before coming to Christ.  Everyone that knew me before I came to Jesus thought I was the last person that would ever be preaching about Jesus.  I was all about the girls and the parties.  I was all about my sin and feeding my flesh every pleasure and desire it wanted.  I hated God and I hated Christians.  God reached into that darkness and saved me and He did the same for Kanye!  Jesus Christ can save anyone!

I have never purchased one of Kanye’s albums before this.  I got saved in October of 1996 when I was 18 and I haven’t listened to worldly music since then.  God convicted me early on to get rid of all my old music and from that day on I have listened to only Holy Spirit filled Christian music for the last 23 years.  It is so amazing and powerful that God saved Kanye!  It has been encouraging and uplifting listening to his born again album!  JESUS IS KING is a beautiful testimony of a man who understands what he has been saved from and he gives all the glory to Jesus!

I grew up listening to rap and hip-hop and you all know I love artists like TobyMac and Lecrae and the whole Reach Records crew.  I know not everyone is into rap, but Kanye’s new album is not what you would expect in rap.  It is a beautiful Gospel album fully centered on Jesus.  It’s amazing I am even saying that about an album by Kanye West!  The beats, piano, choir singing, horns, and rapping all glorify God!  Praise God!

When I hear people judging him and doubting his salvation, I think of the verses in Titus chapter three.  I think about what God saved me from and how vile I was in my sin before I came to Christ.  I think about how merciful and loving God is and I wonder if those who are judging him have forgotten just how much grace was poured out on them.

“At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures.  We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.  But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”

Titus 3:3-7

Give this brother grace to grow and learn and pray for him.  He gave his life to Jesus less than a year ago and look at what God is already doing with him.  I take a man at his word.  Kanye is proclaiming Jesus Christ is King and Jesus Christ is Lord and I rejoice in that!  I am praying blessing and protection over him and his family and I pray all my brothers and sisters in Christ do the same.  Welcome him into the family and rejoice like the angels in Heaven over his salvation!

Jesus Christ is Lord, and Kanye West is preaching that to the world now!  He has encountered God’s love and forgiveness and it shows!  He really is walking with Jesus and He is filled with the Holy Spirit, amen!  Like he says in his songs “Closed on Sunday” and “God Is”:

“Follow Jesus, listen and obey, no more livin’ for the culture, we’re nobody’s slave.  Stand up for my home, even if I take this walk alone, I bow down to the King upon the throne.  My life is His, I’m no longer my own.”

Thank You Jesus for saving this brother!  Use Kanye for Your glory!  Protect him and his family from the evil one!  Strengthen him in Your Holy Word and anoint him with wisdom and discernment in the Holy Spirit!  Fan into flame the gifts You gave him Lord and may He love you and fear Your Name for the rest of his life!  Give him strength to preach the Gospel and bring Your light to the darkness, amen!

Jesus saved me, He saved Kanye, and He can save you too!  Don’t ever think you are too far gone in your sins!  Jesus died for you on that cross to set you free from sin and death!  Come to Him and He will save your soul and set you free!  Jesus Christ is Lord and only Jesus can save you!  Jesus is your forgiveness from every sin and He loves you more than you could ever imagine!  He is the lover of your soul!

Grace and peace to you and your family brother Kanye!  You have crossed over from death to life through your faith in Jesus and God is glorified!  You are one of His children now and you are an heir to eternal life!  May He continue to use you for His glory!

  1. God loves all of us without reservation. Rejoicing in Kanye’s new walk with Jesus. So many that judge are displaying attitudes of pride, arrogance and judgment, which is condemned. Not one of us could save ourselves. We all need the death, blood, resurrection and salvation of Jesus. He loves us so much!

    2. P.S. I love “Hands On” too! It’s cool Fred Hammond is on that track. I always liked him. I listened to him a lot back in college. I love the songs “Follow God” and “On God” too! I played a bunch of the songs for my wife and kids yesterday and they loved it! My wife doesn’t even like rap. Actually she can’t stand it, and even she liked it and that is amazing!😊 So cool to see God using Kanye! God bless!

      6. I know!!! I thought sound was familiar. I hadn’t checked the credits to see who’s all featured on the album.
        And, I was listening to “Water” when I was at lunch….man! I love this entire project. God’s fingerprints are all over it!

      7. Amen! Cool, I was literally just listening to “Water”! Awesome song and it literally flows like water, it’s beautiful! Love the part where they sing, “pure as water, like a newborn daughter.” Makes me think of my baby girl who is our firstborn. God is so good!

      10. I hadn’t seen that yet, thanks! Beautiful! I’ve got my hands up swayin’ to the beat for sure! I’m not a big fan of Osteen (although I pray for him), but I am really glad Kanye and his crew went to his church to preach the truth and bring the big joy! Love it!

  6. Amen! I am so happy to have another brother! It is so sad that Christians act like that, doubting his salvation. Only God can judge him. It is our job to love, support, encourage, and pray for Him. And honestly, saved or not Jesus is being preached and for that we should be grateful.

    I have a similar story to yours. I spent my early years hating God and doing everything I could to fill my life with everything but Him. I am so grateful that He never gave up on me. God’s grace is for everyone!

  7. I think Kanye is going to help many people come to Jesus. Someone said they were at one of his gatherings, and said he’s for real, they thought his speaking and knowledge was like listening to a pastor. God knows his heart and I hope people see in him God’s love. He bought a huge amount of land in Cody, WY. and wants to farm and harvest it. I’m not sure if people will live there or what, but his plans sounded well thought out. Praying for him in all his good will and new life! Pretty awesome his did his album. I listened to a few songs last week after I saw his interview (can’t remember who with). Cool you tweeted a welcome to him, sure hope he lays eyes on it. Great message on being saved, Ryan.

    1. Amen Mom! Yeah, we must have seen the same interview. I watched a 2 hour interview today where he was on his land and it was really cool. Cody is right next to Yellowstone and it’s only about 7.5 hours from us. Kanye is definitely for real. Heather read an article where Brad Pitt talked about going to one of his Sunday services and he said it made him want to know Jesus and go back to church. It’s cool that Uncle Tim goes to church with Brad’s brother down in Missouri. I really pray Brad comes back to Jesus. God is definitely using Kanye to preach truth and bring His light to the darkness in Hollywood. It is so awesome how Jesus saves people! So amazing and powerful that He saved Kanye! Love you!

  8. I read that Brad is returning to Christ, too.. He said he has been missing church and Jesus in his life.
    What a wonderfull Christmas he and his family in MO. will have knowing Brad is returning. I pray that for him. Amen! Tim still sees his brother at their church. Love you!

  9. I imagine a great amount of people who knew me when I got saved said the same things about me (because of who I used to be) as they’re saying about Kanye West. It didn’t make me any less of a miracle in Christ and it doesn’t make Kanye any less of a miracle either. Whether or not he is genuinely saved is between him and God anyway. Just like the rest of us who claim Christ. Great post!

  13. I pray that Kanye has genuinely trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior by faith alone. It’s regrettable that Kanye will be appearing at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood non-church in Houston this coming Sunday.

    1. Amen Tom. Yes, I have been praying for him and asking the Lord to give him wisdom and discernment and protect him from false preachers. He is young in his faith and he will figure it out in time. Most believers have dealt with those at some point in their walk. One good thing is that he can preach the truth boldly to that “church” and I pray the Lord moves in power and speaks through him. God bless!

  20. I am thankful that Kanye West has been saved. We need to pray that he will find and follow good teachers who will teach the Word accurately. Remember that as a new Christian he doesn’t yet have the knowledge to always tell the difference between true teachers and those who teach false doctrines.

    1. Amen, thank you Clyde! Yes, that’s right and I appreciate you encouraging believers to pray for him! He needs all the prayer he can get. I definitely pray the Lord gives Him wisdom and discernment to stay away from false teachers and doctrines. I also trust that Jesus will lead Him in the Holy Spirit and I pray He pours out the Spirit on Kanye and delivers him and his family from evil. God bless!
