The Lord Will Help Me

Pic quote Psalm 121 v 1

I opened up the Word this morning and I read Psalm 121.  It was a blessing the Lord showed me this Scripture because I have been praying through a great deal of anxiety about my health and our finances.  The Lord sees our suffering and He cares for us!  After almost 8 years of suffering Celiac and working through the shame and humiliation of long term unemployment, I have learned to continually lift up my eyes to the Lord!

The Maker of Heaven and earth is my help!  There is nothing too hard for Him and He can do all things!  Nothing is impossible for God!

“For nothing is impossible with God.”

Luke 1:37

When I was diagnosed at the age of 33 on 1-6-2012, my whole world got rocked!  I was in the prime of my life and everything was moving forward as my wife and I had hoped.  Celiac changed all of that and the life I was left with was unrecognizable from the life I lived when I was healthy.

We got through it all by trusting in Jesus!  We are still getting through it today by trusting in Jesus and we will keep trusting in Jesus through it all to the very end!  The Lord has shown us time and time again that we can trust Him and He has provided for us and cared for us in amazing and miraculous ways!  Through all the pain and struggle of this life, I want you to know that God has been faithful to me and my family, and He can be trusted!

We all know that everything is good when everything is going good.  We also know that things can go from good to challenging or even traumatic in a flash and our lives are changed forever.  We can become complacent when times are painless and good, and unwisely start to trust in ourselves.  I recommend knowing the One who made you and trusting in Him to help you!  We all need God’s love and help!

“I lift up my eyes to the hills–

where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip–

he who watches over you will not

slumber;

indeed, he who watches over Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you–

the Lord is your shade at your right

hand;

the sun will not harm you by day,

nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm–

he will watch over your life;

the Lord will watch over your coming

and going

both now and forevermore.”

Psalm 121:1-8

Whatever you are suffering today, remember to lift your eyes up and look to the Lord!  He is our help in times of trouble and He will take care of our every need!  If you do not know Jesus, please come to Him today!  He loves you and He wants to take your burdens and give you rest!  He wants to save your soul!

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Jesus speaking in Matthew 11:28-30

“For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Jesus speaking in John 6:40

Whenever I feel burdened by the troubles of this world, I lift it all up to the Lord and He washes away the stress by the power of the Holy Spirit!  My soul is at rest because Jesus is my peace and I have His peace inside of me.  Troubles will come just like He told us, but He also told us we can overcome them all through Him!

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”

Jesus speaking in John 16:33

“Who is it that overcomes the world?  Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

1 John 5:5

I have seen God move in power in mighty and miraculous ways and I know He can do absolutely anything at anytime!  He still casts out demons, He still sends angels to help us, He can still bring people back to life who have stopped breathing, and the Holy Spirit can still come into your room like a mighty wind!  If God wanted to heal me right this very second, He could do that and it would be like I never had Celiac at all!

I also know that sometimes He doesn’t remove the thorn, but keeps it in place for a purpose.  We must keep trusting Him despite our circumstances because God has a will and a plan and we must live in submission to His will and plan for our lives.  I trust the Lord because He is good and He has always been faithful and good to me.  His grace is sufficient and we can rest in Him and be at peace.

“Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

2 Corinthians 12:8-9

I am praying for all of you who are suffering.  From illness and pain to job loss and financial burdens, I am lifting it all up to the Lord and asking Him to pour out blessing and healing on you all!  God loves you, don’t give up!  Keep fighting the good fight and keep trusting in Jesus!  We have overcome the world through Him and the troubles of this world can’t ever keep us down!

Grace and peace to you all!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13

  1. Praying for you brother Ryan! I have always loved the saying, “God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good”. He is always good to us, through the good times and the bad times. He’s got this. Keep up the good work brother! God bless!

  2. Thank you for sharing. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition in 2013 and have had limited employment since. It has not been easy at all. This post was a great reminder to keep trusting in Him. He knows what He is doing. Thank you for your vulnerability and inspirational words.

  3. I was long term unemployed when I was mentally ill, so I know how that feels. But there’s no unemployment in the kingdom of God: you’re a servant of the Most High and you’re doing a good job with this blog, so keep on keeping on! 🙂

  6. Oh Ryan 😢 how needed this post is to me right now. You mentioned the “shame and humiliation” you’ve felt from unemployment which I’m sure my husband feels right now too. I feel that way for having a brain injury and am embarrassed about it. This psalm though, is one my dad read to me before bed as a child and I’ve committed it to memory. Thank you for this blessed reminder to lift our eyes up to the hills and trust Jesus. Amen brother. 🙏

  9. Good morning Ryan. Reading some posts I missed this week. My new job as crossing guard is an answered prayer but still requires some adjustment. I love how you glorify Our Father and His Son in all you write. God gave me this thought as I read your post: there are many work-from-home options in today’s world. Praying He leads you straight to His well. In Christ, Julie

    1. Thanks Julie! I appreciate the prayer! I have looked into several work from home things, but a lot of them are scams or a waste of time. I know the Lord can do all things though and He can make a way where there is no way. May His will be done. God bless!
