The world received terrible news out of Christchurch, New Zealand today. There has been more violence against people of faith and the families and the country need our prayers. Christchurch is normally a peaceful and idyllic place to live and vacation. It is a sobering reminder that this hatred and evil can appear anywhere. I lift these families up to the Lord and I ask Him to bring healing and spread revival through this fallen world.
I have several Muslims that follow my blog. I want you to know that I hurt with you and my heart and prayers are with the families who are suffering such pain and anguish. Just like all the victims of these mass shootings, they did not deserve this. I am a Christian and an American and this violence grieves my heart.
This violence comes from the evil one. It doesn’t matter if the evil person committing the attack is attacking a church, a synagogue, or a mosque, such attacks are all from the evil one. I pray this violence stops! We are not ever going to agree on our faith, but we can strive to live in peace with each other.
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
Romans 12:18
Some may say this attack is revenge for all the terrorist attacks Muslims have committed in the Western world. I say no more! No more attacks like this from any faith no matter what it is! God is the judge and He will avenge. If you have a disagreement regarding politics or religion and you are mad enough to hurt people, then please take a moment to look at your heart and back away from that anger. It will only lead to evil, which will bring great suffering to you and those you hurt.
“Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.”
Romans 12:19
As a Christian American I have many disagreements with Muslims. Yes, it makes me angry when I see Imams saying that Muslims will take over America. Yes, it makes me angry when Muslims attack and kill my people in the streets. However, I do not wish you harm. I pray for you in Christ. I love you in Christ. Revenge and violence are not the answer. May the Lord spread His peace and healing through this world.
Grace and peace to you all.
“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”
Romans 13:8-10
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Jesus speaking in John 3:16

Just last night, my husband surprised me with airline tickets to Connecticut in July, so I can attend my granddaughter’s wedding. They met when they were both students at Harvard.
I met my granddaughter’s husband-to-be about a year and a half ago. His countenance shines with a kind, caring, thoughtful, beautiful spirit. He clearly adores my granddaughter. I could not help but love him as though he were my own grandson.
He is from a predominantly Muslim country. Is he Muslim? I did not ask, I simply tried to show Christ’s love to him and my granddaughter.
And I am praying. There’s got to be a verse somewhere about the effectual fervent prayer of a Christ-following, God-fearing grandmother! 😊

Amen. However I would say we have to stop labeling terrorist attacks on just one particular group. Because a terrorist attack can happen in our own backyard. America has had hate crimes happen where US citizens walk into a church, predominantly black community and violently kill others because of the color of their skin. Any group, nationality, religion, and any country, including Americas can be labeled under “terrorist”. It’s not about just being a Christian to show kindness and love, how about we just be human beings following the example of Jesus. We need to go back to WWJD.
But I do completely agree that opposing views should not warrant anyone to act violently towards anyone. We are violating people’s space and threatening they’re freedom. We need to learn how to agree to disagree, and just simply learn to walk away. People feel using weapons and killing proves they have the power to end wars. But your stricking fear, unnecessary fear because no one ever wins in these wars, it just doesn’t end. I pray we all come together and pray for each other. Let our prayers and examples of kindness win Gods children to Christ.

Amen. To be clear, I never labeled terrorist attacks on just Muslims. Anyone who commits an act of violence like this commits an act of terror. It doesn’t matter who does it, it’s all evil. God bless

Yes, I didn’t mean you. I meant the news reporters, namely this current administration. Labels can bring more division.

The massacre of these innocent people is heart breaking beyond words. It totally is the work of the evil one, there could be no other reason for such hate and cruelty put upon them, and despair felt by their friends and family, and even strangers of these innocent people. I pray for all of them. What a long, hurtful road they have ahead of them.

Amen. I understand that the person that committed this crime did not want imigrants to be there. A TrueBeliver in our Christ would be incapable of this. Many use the name Christian but are from the ‘god of this world.’ :*(

Amen. So well said, Ryan. Even when we disagree about matters of faith, Jesus has called us to love one another. We still pray that God will open their eyes to the truth about Jesus, but violence and killing are out of the question. Joining you in prayer for all families who lost loved ones or were harmed. Lord have mercy!

Amen. Agree with you. Disgusting how the media has politicised this issue – even resorting to outright lies.

Yep, the news is mostly propaganda to fit an agenda of some kind and that agenda is usually liberal.

Amen. The devil sows so much hate in hearts and people do not realise how powerful that evil emotion is till it reaps the fruits of destruction. I pray for comfort too, for all affected.

Amen! I’m so disheartened by this horrendous act. 2 Timothy 3:1-6 tells us that we’re living in the “last days” and that men will be lovers of themselves, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power. I have hope that soon God will rid this world of all the ungodly that commit such terrible acts (Psalms 37:10,11). You made a great point about stepping away from anger. It reminded me of James 1:19,20 “Know this, my beloved brothers: Everyone must be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger, for man’s anger does not bring about God’s righteousness.” We all get angry, but no matter our beliefs we never are justified in committing violence. As you mentioned, God is the judge. We must patiently wait on him to right any wrongs. Thank you for these reminders.

Islam is a religion of peace. I’m fed up of people potraying Muslims as terrorists. People should not label the whole Muslims as terrorists. But sadly this is the truth Muslims get treated badly everywhere. God bless you for spreading love and awareness
