The Attitude of Jesus Christ

Pic quote Philippians 2 v 5

Attitude is a big deal and we talk about it a lot in society.  I grew up playing basketball and baseball and the coaches were always talking about attitude.  Keeping a good attitude definitely helps in life, but believers in Christ are to keep an attitude that is much more than just good.  In Paul’s letter to the Philippians he tells them that they should have the same attitude as Jesus.  He also clearly explains what kind of attitude Jesus had, so we can imitate Him.  This is not an easy thing to do, but by the power of the Holy Spirit we have the attitude of Christ inside of us and He empowers us to live it out!  Here is the attitude of Jesus Christ.

“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.  Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature

God,

did not consider equality

with God something to

be grasped,

but made himself nothing,

taking the very nature of

a servant,

being made in human

likeness.

And being found in

appearance as a man,

he humbled himself

and became obedient to

death–

even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him

to the highest place

and gave him the name

that is above every

name,

that at the name of Jesus

every knee should bow,

in heaven and on earth,

and under the earth,

and every tongue confess

that Jesus Christ is

Lord,

to the glory of God the

Father.”

Philippians 2:1-11

That is one powerful attitude!  Jesus was full of humility and love to the point that He made Himself nothing and died on a cross for us!  That is true servant leadership and His love, fellowship, tenderness, compassion, and humility led to the salvation of the world when He died on that cross for the sins of all mankind!

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 10:9

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”

Jesus speaking in John 5:24

I pray with all my heart that our attitudes would be the same as that of Christ Jesus.  He has given us the power to love and have compassion.  He has given us the power to see the world just like He does!  May He fill us with His love and compassion and His humble heart and may His will be done, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Grace and peace to you all!

P.S. I love how the verse says “and under the earth.”  Remember that!  The evil one and his horde are going to bow their knees and their tongues will confess, “Jesus Christ is Lord,” to the glory of God the Father too!  Amen and Hallelujah!!!

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.  The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.”

Romans 16:20

  1. Praise God, if we could just be a little like HIm what a wonderful world this would be. I also love how the Bible gives us great instructions on how to be like Jesus. No room for guessing, or nothing to decode. It’s straight and to the point! LORD, thank You for continuing to bless Ryan 🙂
