Jesus is Supreme

I read a really cool section of Scripture to my daughter before tucking her in for bedtime tonight.  It is about the supremacy of Jesus and it is a powerful description of who Jesus is and what kind of authority He has.  After reading these verses you will know exactly who Jesus is.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.  He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.  For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”

Colossians 1:15-20

Jesus is the image of God.

He is the firstborn over all creation and He is before all things, which means He was with God in the beginning of creation!  As the Book of John says:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”

John 1:1-3

Jesus is the Word.  Jesus is God.  He was there at the beginning of creation and nothing was made without Him.

“while we wait for the blessed hope–the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ..”

Titus 2:13

All things were created by Him and for Him.

He holds all things together.

He is the head of the church.

God’s fullness dwells in Him.

God is reconciling all things to Himself by making peace through the Blood of Jesus!

It is very clear.  God made Himself a man and died for us!  That is why Jesus is supreme over all creation and everything in it!
