The Attitude of Jesus

Philippians 2 v 5 attitude of Jesus

Good morning everyone!  I hope you are having a peaceful Saturday.  I need to be straightforward, I am hurting physically.  I am down to 132 pounds, which is only 4 pounds away from where I was at diagnosis on 1-6-12 (128 pounds).  I am pretty sure I have been losing weight and not able to gain it back because of my blogging, but I must keep going!  I started this blog on 8-10-18.  I set a goal that over the next 30 days from that date I would build a content rich site where people could come to know Jesus and learn about the Bible.  Monday 9-10-18 is my 1 month anniversary for the blog.  I have been writing multiple posts per day and staying up late and it is becoming difficult on my body with this disease.  Please pray for me!  I am not going to give up!

I was hurting and angry this morning wanting to ask the same questions I asked God when I was wrestling Him for several years.  Why won’t you help me gain weight?  Why does this keep happening?  Why don’t you want to heal me, especially with the blog going?  No, I don’t get it sometimes brothers and sisters.  All I know is that I need to trust Him and take it on faith.  That’s all I can do.  That’s all any of us can do.  He has been faithful to me up to this point, so I’m not stopping now!

Somewhere in my life I learned a phrase that has helped me many times.  Life can be 90% what happens to you and 10% how you react to it, or you can have a stronger attitude and believe life is only 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it!  By the power of the Holy Spirit we can choose to control our attitude in bad circumstances, or we can choose to let those circumstances control us.

Now that’s good advice, but the absolute best attitude we could ever have is having the same attitude that Jesus had!  Yes, the Bible even talks about His attitude!  Let’s take a look.

“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.  Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature,

God,

did not consider equality

with God something to

be grasped,

but made himself nothing,

taking the very nature of

a servant,

being made in human

likeness.

And being found in

appearance as a man,

he humbled himself

and became obedient to

death–

even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him

to the highest place

and gave him the name

that is above every

name,

that at the name of Jesus

every knee should bow,

in heaven and on earth

and under the earth,

and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is

Lord,

to the glory of God the

Father.”

Philippians 2:1-11

Amen, Amen, and Amen!  Jesus is Lord!  Our Lord and Savior suffered too.  He submitted Himself to God despite His suffering and He obeyed to the point of death!  Yeah, this disease is awful and it hurts, but I am going to choose to have the attitude of Jesus who humbled Himself and became obedient to death on a cross to save my soul!

Please pray for me.  I am praying specifically that God will heal and restore the villi in my small intestine.  I am praying He heals all the damage in my small intestine.  I am praying that I will be able to gain weight and get back to 160 pounds.  I am 6’1″ tall folks and it hurts weighing 132 pounds.  I am way too thin!  I pray that He washes over me with His healing and restores me to full health.  If He doesn’t remove the thorn, then so be it.  Pray for me that I will continue to be faithful to this ministry and have the strength to fight the disease in His power and love!

I will keep pressing on and I pray that we all have the attitude of Jesus no matter what we are going through!

Grace and peace to you all!

Jesus Christ is Lord

  2. I pray for healing and God’s will in your life, Ryan. I wish you didn’t have to go through this, but we know that God is good. Seek His will for your time and activities while you work through this time in your life.
