Nothing Is Impossible

Genesis 18 v 14

There are many things that are impossible on this earth.  With human beings, many things are impossible.  We all know this.  With God, however, nothing is impossible, and I mean absolutely nothing, is impossible!

In Genesis chapter 18, Abraham’s wife Sarah actually laughs at God when He tells Abraham that Sarah will have a son.  They were both very old at that point and Sarah was well beyond child bearing years, so she laughed.  Why?  Because she thought it was impossible–even for the Lord!

“Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’  Is anything too hard for the Lord?  I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son.”

Genesis 18:13-14

Sarah did end up bearing a son who Abraham named Isaac, who ultimately became the nation of Israel!  Nothing is impossible for God!

“Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised.  Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.  Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him.  When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him.  Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.

Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me?”  And she added, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children?  Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”

Genesis 21:1-7

Sarah was laughing, but she was not laughing at the Lord anymore!  The Lord had promised Abraham (Abram at that time) that He would make him into a great nation, and He fulfilled that promise through Isaac!

“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Genesis 12:2-3

Do you know how all the people of the earth were blessed through Abraham?  Because God sent Jesus Christ through the line of Abraham, and Jesus is the Savior of the world!  That’s how!  Sarah had no idea how important her little baby boy Isaac truly was!  Nothing is too hard for the Lord!

In the beginning of the Book of Matthew, the genealogy of Jesus Christ is recorded:

“A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham:”

Matthew 1:1

The entire genealogy is listed in verses 2-16, which clearly shows how we got from Abraham to Jesus.  In verse 17, Matthew sums up the genealogy:

“Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.”

Matthew 1:17

What started with a laugh of unbelief, ended with the salvation of the world!  Nothing is too hard for the Lord and with God all things are possible!  We see this truth throughout the entire Bible.

“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind.  Is anything too hard for me?”

Jeremiah 32:27

“Jesus replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”

Luke 18:27

One day as Jesus was preaching and healing people from town to town, He came upon a family whose son was possessed by a demon.  The father pleads with Jesus to help their son and again we see human unbelief and the Lord’s answer to that unbelief.

“Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”

“From childhood,” he answered.  “It has often thrown him into the fire or water to kill him.  But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”

” ‘If you can’?”  said Jesus.  “Everything is possible for him who believes.”

Mark 9:21-23

I love that!  If?  “If you can” is not in God’s vocabulary!  He is I AM!  Of course He can, and He did cast that demon out too!

I am living proof of that!  Can He cast out demons through His people by the power of the Holy Spirit?  Yes!  Can He send angels to pick you up and fly you away from a man chasing you with a knife?  Yes!  Can He send an angel to speak with you, so you get up and go help a woman in trouble?  Yes!  Can He save you from death and put you back in your body in the powerful wind of the Holy Spirit after you just stopped breathing?  Yes He can, and He did all of those things for me!!!  I am telling you right now, have faith in Jesus!  Believe!  Do not laugh at Him.  The Lord can do absolutely anything He wants to do!  Nothing is impossible for God!  Nothing!

“I know that you can do all

things;

no plan of yours can be

thwarted.”

Job 42:2

That’s right brother Job!  The Lord God Almighty, the Great I AM, King of kings and Lord of lords, can do all things and nothing is impossible or too hard for Him!   Remember that today!  Hallelujah!

Grace and peace to you all!

Romans 10 v 9
