American Reparations

Due to all the craziness here in America, I have been writing a lot about all the social and political issues swirling around us.  It is always important to include a Christ centered perspective in the nationwide conversations we are having.  These conversations are changing and shaping our society, and we must speak God’s truth to it all.  Today, I want to address the rapidly spreading idea of reparations, and how ridiculous and sinful it is.

If you haven’t heard, the radical leftist hate group “Black Lives Matter” has added a new demand to their list after their wildly successful “defund the police” campaign.  Now they want reparations for the sin of black slavery in America.  That is, they want the government to literally pay every black person in America money for the damages caused by slavery over 150 years ago.  Don’t think it could happen?  Just look how fast “defund the police” caught on.  I could totally see Pelosi writing a bill for reparations.  Look how much money she stole with the CARES Act!

Some have even suggested the government pay every black person a permanent livable wage.  The founder of BET (Black Entertainment Television), Robert Johnson, declared on CNBC Monday morning that the government should pay 14 Trillion dollars in reparations in the form of a cash wealth transfer.  He said white Americans need to recognize “damages that are owed.”  Not only is his suggestion ridiculous because there isn’t even that much cash available in our country’s economy, but the whole idea is ridiculous.

How far back should we go?  How many people groups should we pay back for all the wrongs committed against them?  My ancestors came from Ireland.  When they arrived in America, they were hated and persecuted and they lived in the New York City ghettos with the blacks.  They had to come up from nothing and scrap and fight every step of the way.  Should white ancestors of the Irish, like myself, be paid reparations for that?  NO, and I wouldn’t want it anyway!

How about the Native American Seneca Tribe blood I have in me from my Mom’s side?  If there were ever going to be reparations, I would think it would be best to start with all the Native Americans first.  How much money do you suppose they are owed?  Should every person with Native American genealogy, like myself, be paid reparations as well?

Nobody is denying that slavery was a horrific sin and should have never happened.  But putting that sin on every white person in America is sinful too.  Nobody in our current society has ever owned black slaves.  Republican northerners didn’t own slaves and it was the Republican President Abraham Lincoln who set the slaves free back in 1863.  Democrat southerners were the slave owners and it was the Democrats who started the KKK too.  Even so, no current southerner in our modern society has ever owned slaves either.  I was born in the late 1970s.  If you want to get real specific about it, none of my Irish ancestors owned slaves either.  I come from a persecuted people who were treated poorly alongside black people, remember?

I’m tired of hearing about “white privilege” too.  What white privilege did my Irish ancestors have?  They worked hard labor building this country.  They sweat it out in the factories and mines and laid the tracks that took our nation West.  They didn’t demand reparations and we still don’t.

I’ve been working hard since I was a kid and so has my family.  We are all subject to the controls and forced inflation of the Federal Reserve no matter our color.  People don’t need handouts.  We need good steady jobs in a thriving economy!  If you want to make it in this country, you better be ready to work hard for it.

What white privilege do I have?  I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease on 1-6-2012.  I lost everything!  My job, my money, my health insurance, and it almost cost me my life.  I have been unemployed for 8 years now as I fight this disease every day.  It doesn’t matter that I’m white!  Nobody will hire me and nobody cares that I’m white!  Our state doesn’t even allow disability income for people with Celiac!

Should I talk about how all of you healthy people discriminate against those of us who are chronically ill?  Should I demand reparations and talk about “healthy privilege” and how you get all the jobs, benefits, and money while we are cast out of society like lepers?  It’s easier for a healthy black person to get a job, than it is for a sick white person.  Hashtag healthy privilege, right?!  Chronically ill, injured, and disabled lives matter too.

Reparations for slavery is absolutely ridiculous!  I did not commit the sin of slavery and I am not a racist.  I have nothing to apologize for regarding my white skin and God does not hold me accountable for the sin of slavery.  That sin is not on me or my children, and we don’t owe money to anyone, no matter what color they are.

Jesus Christ died for the sins of all mankind.  Each one of us is accountable to God for our own sins, and we must all individually stand before Him at our last breath.  The only way to be forgiven of our sins is through faith in Jesus Christ.  When you believe in Jesus, your sins are nailed to that cross and you become a redeemed child of God!  There is no condemnation in Christ and God keeps no record of wrongs!

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6

“This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.  There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

Romans 3:22-24

“Then he adds:

“Their sins and lawless acts

I will remember no more.”

Hebrews 10:17

We don’t need reparations.  We need reconciliation with God!  We all need His forgiveness and love, and that is the only thing that is going to truly change this world.  Blaming all white people in current day America for the sin of slavery that we did not commit is only going to bring more pain and division.

BLM is not seeking healing and reconciliation.  They are seeking revenge.  Hate, anger, and fear are their fuel and they are burning down our country with it.  A BLM mob even vandalized a statue honoring a man who was a slavery abolitionist.  Do they even know why they are knocking down statues?!  No, they don’t.  They are knocking them down simply because they are statues of famous white people from our history.  There is a word for that, it’s called racism.

BLM is not fooling me.  They get what they want through threats, intimidation, force, and violence.  Hating cops was just the beginning.  Their whole agenda is actually based on hating white people and they want to make us pay in any and every way they can.  Some in their group even called for making black only hospitals!  I suppose they want to put up signs that say “No Whites Allowed” and make us sit at the back of the bus too.  Would that satisfy their vengeful hearts?

I pray against their hatred and I pray the Lord heals their hearts.  I’ve said it before and I will say it again, divisions of the flesh come from satan!  Are there real racists in this country?  Yes, and they come in all colors.  Not one race has a monopoly on racism and it is sinful and racist to suggest that only white people are racist.

BLM is spreading hatred based on lies.  They are spreading the hatred of the evil one, and sadly a lot of people are buying it.  This is an attack on the very fabric of our society and the truths and freedoms we all hold dear.  Will we love our neighbors or hate them?  Will we bow to the lies or stand firm in the truth?

We need to pray for revival and healing in this country.  Pray for truth, righteousness, and justice to spread in our land!  Pray for God’s love to increase and overflow in our hearts for each other!  Pray for evil to be exposed and cast out!  Pray for lies to be cut down and pray for people’s minds and hearts to be opened to the truth!  Ask the Lord to pour out His Holy Spirit on our country and save souls!  Amen!

Only God’s love can heal a hate filled heart, and it is the only thing that will heal our nation.  May His love flow through us all and bring great healing!

    1. Yes, many Democrat controlled cities are literally defunding and even disbanding their police departments. Minneapolis is the worst. Even NYC reassigned 600 undercover officers & removed them from anti-crime patrols. I pray the Lord stops all of this. It is insane. Good news is God is still in control and we can trust Him.       2. Exactly, great point! Minneapolis wants to totally disband the police and replace it with some kind of unarmed community counselor group. It is all very strange. Crime will run rampant and many people will be hurt and killed. Praying so hard for our country!

      5. I agree. We know what the Bible says about the end times and it’s not pretty watching it all play out. Praying the Lord saves souls. We have great hope in Jesus and He is coming soon!🙌🙏

    what the radical left is being paid to say and do is trying to rage, loot, pillage and occupy for lucifer whose agenda is to enslave every American and remove Christ and our republic under God with unalienable God-given to every person without partiality. Jesus removes the past and sin as far from us as the east is from the west; reconnecting us to God our Father and has nothing to do with skin color. ALL human beings were enslaved to sin; living under the enslavement of our souls by sin; and the current slaves (those human beings and children being trafficked for sex and drugs and evil rituals) are being enslaved by the dominion of darkness in this world system.
    Those asking for reparations are under the god of this world, being influenced by the unclean spirist of this world, the spirit of error causing chaos, wanting lucifer, the counterfeit light they have made their god, to bring a new order that is really disorder and against God’s Design, Plan and Purposes; unveiling the hidden capstone, stealing, killing and destroying lives to bring the false light disguising itself as justice to harm property and hurt God’s people who are every race, tribe, skin color, and nation.
    The antidote to satan’s lies and deception and enslaving of souls is to come out of this world system and come to Christ, who has already given every slave, we were ALL slaves under the devil living in sin and falling short of the glory, all he won for us on the Cross, freedom to love God and love one another, hearing and doing God’s Will on earth as it is in heaven; rejecting the works of the devil; submitting to God, resisting the devil and he will flee.
    We come to Christ and receive our every need supplied out of the riches of the glory of Christ and the treasury of heaven, as we take responsibility, come out of the victim and oppressor mindsets, come out of shame, guilt and condemnation into the mind, heart and will of Christ Jesus! Jesus repaired all of our broken relationships with God and slavery to sin, death and the power of satan; we do not take the guilt the luciferian agenda is putting on people who God made with white skin. That is satanic and demonic and we do not consent to the plans and purposes of the agenda of the new world order or one world government. We are under the governance of Christ, under God our Father and he never blames anyone for the color of their skin, but loves the skin color he made you of for His Design; nor does he enslave anyone, nor does he shame, guilt or condemn those under the law of the Spirit of Life who take the Words of Life and live them, no longer living like hell under the dominion of darkness and trying to guilt a group of people for selfish gain.
    The father of lies’s agenda is to steal, kill and destroy and the radical left are showing they are aligned with the beast, giving their power and authority to the evil ones who are at war against the Lamb, the Lord of lords and King of kings and those with the Lamb.
    Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing or whose spirit they are of. Abba Father have mercy on them and bring them to repentance by Your loving kindness. Hate doesn’t heal hate.

        The puppet masters pulling the strings hate every human being and are playing both sides to inflame rage and outrage, incite further division, and funding both sides of conflicts, wars and all unrest to achieve their global agenda, their new world order to enslave every human soul and make the puppet masters zillionaires.
        But God has plans and purposes to prosper and not harm us, working all things together for the good of those who love God and are called to his purposes, giving us a living hope and future! We expose their demonic agenda with the true Light and Truth and Life of Christ Jesus! to God be the glory!

  6. I agree. The world is upside down right now! Hold on for the Crazy ride I guess. It’s weird how certain groups say they are the most hated group or race or whatever and always seems to forget the 6 million or more Jews slaughtered by the Nazis. And they were God’s “chosen people.”

  10. Love is the only way. The ones “preaching” these ideas simply don’t know love.

    When we follow Jesus, there is a radical surrender to love and we learn to stop fighting for ourselves, because we know the creator of the universe is the one already fighting for us.

    Even among believers it isn’t easy to find someone who lets go of fighting for themselves. But for the ones who do, it’s life changing.

    I pray that the Lord reveals himself to all these brothers and sisters who are still blinded by the darkness of this world. When they can see the light, they will be filled with a love, joy and peace that this world is incapable of giving them.

  12. Interesting. I must say that as a black person I do understands the demands. do I agree with them? No! but I understand. Also, I would like to note that no other race are being killed without a cause in this country only black people so its one of those topics. Jesus is the only answer. Blessings.

    1. Amen Sheila. Only Jesus can heal this mess. I hear you. Within that conversation though we need to be honest about the crimes being committed in black communities by black people. The cops are there because of gang violence and other crimes. The real issue is the destruction of the black community through abortion and fatherless homes. It is a vicious cycle. The decades of Democrat policies against the black community in these Democrat controlled cities doesn’t help either.

      Many of the shootings happen after the person attacks the cop. Law abiding people don’t attack cops. That’s not all cases, but it’s a lot. I’ve been pulled over by cops several times in my life and I’ve never attacked a cop. The cops would not be in their neighborhoods, if they would stop committing crimes. Right now on Twitter there are tons of videos of black people attacking white people just because they are white. I saw a young blonde haired girl like my daughter get punched in her face over and over by a mob of violent black teens. Watched another video of a black man running down a white woman in a park and viciously punch her in the face and head. It’s disgusting and it fires me up. They deserve to be in jail for their violence. I agree their must be police reforms and no cop should ever abuse their power, but black people in those areas need to stop committing crimes and being violent too.

      Their demands for reparations for slavery has nothing to do with modern society. The topic of cops in violence ridden inner city neighborhoods is another topic entirely. I don’t understand their demands because slavery was a long time ago and none of us have anything to do with it. Modern black people haven’t suffered slavery and modern white people haven’t owned slaves. They just want revenge for a past that has nothing to do with us now.

  13. Exactly! Also, not only have NO white Americans alive ever owned black slaves, but no black Americans alive have ever been slaves, either.
    How about Egypt & Germany pay reparations to the Jews? How about Australia pay reparations to the Aboriginals? How about the UK pay reparations to a quarter of the world (the extent of their former empire)?
    It’s utterly ridiculous.

I have read most of your writings and this is by far one of the best and I plan to make a copy of your words to share with others. Peggy Hubbard, a black women who used to run for the US Senate last year would love to her this. She is totally on the same page on our tired she is of the word oppression for all.
