Happy Mother’s Day 2021

Photo by Ryan, Siesta Key Beach

Today is a special day to honor all the mothers in the world. With all of my heart I want to wish my Mom, my wife, my sister, and all the moms out there a very Happy Mother’s Day!

My wife wanted to go to the beach for Mother’s Day, so yesterday we went to beautiful Siesta Key Beach. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time relaxing on the beach, and playing in the Gulf. This morning we listened to an excellent sermon at church given by our Pastor and his wife. They talked about God’s design for marriage and family (Ephesians 5:22-33, 6:1-4), and the peace we receive when we submit to God’s will in that. Serving each other in love is crucial to a healthy family, and it is beautiful when a mother and father honor God and do His will.

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” -Proverbs 31:28-30

I’m posting this later in the afternoon because I’ve been installing our new curtains in the living room. Our daughter helped me, and it turned out very nice. The beach trip and new curtains were perfect gifts for my wife this year. She has worked so hard and she has been through a lot this year. Despite our current troubles, we are thankful for God’s blessings on this Mother’s Day weekend.

I want to thank my wife for all she does for our family. You are a blessing to me and the kids, and I love you forever and ever!

I also want to thank my Mom for all she has done for me and all the love she has shown me and our whole family. Thank you for always being there for me, Mom. I love you forever and ever too!

Take care of your moms, and love them with all of your heart!

Grace and peace to you all!

  4. Hi, Ryan. I read your posts all the time but saw this today and cried. Family is doing well…my Son and daughter did something precious for me this weekend but at work I received an end of year review that was just idiotic with no warniI am almost retirement age and wonder if age discrimination really exists. I am teacher’s assistant in an elementary school and have had wonderful reviews for the last 5 years. I am there for the kids and God but officially retire with full benefits

    1. I hit the key too quickly. I would appreciate prayers. I can retire in one year. My mid term review was fine with no complaints.

    2. Thank you, Karla. I’m sorry to hear about the unjust review. There is definitely a lot of discrimination in the school districts. My wife was unjustly forced to resign and the whole thing has been a very difficult trial to deal with. Praying for you. God bless you.

      1. Oh my….I thought I read your wife was going through struggles. I have been in some form of education my entire life, began as a high school teacher tens years and then(moved to a new town) college adjunct, special ed and now this job. I am amazed by the discrimination….I always think it will change, have had good years but I will pray for you and your family especially since you moved. God bless you too!!

      2. Thank you for your prayers. We definitely need them. She has had 2 good interviews so far. One school said they would hire her, but she needs to take a state exam first, and it’s not really a position she wants. It’s also pretty far north of us. We are praying the Lord opens a door for her. She also needs prayer for encouragement. We moved all the way down here for her to work at the charter school, and what they did to her has been very discouraging. Now we have to enroll our kids in a different school next year too. I just want to go back home to Colorado, but my wife and kids don’t want to do that. We are trusting the Lord will work everything out for our good.

      1. Yes 🙌, my daughter is really pushing us to come down to visit her next. I haven’t been to Florida since my life fell out from underneath me.
I praise God I can go anywhere today with Him as my strength. I have many a fond memory of Florida, and many breaking. So I will rise above with God, and eventually plan to go see her. How great a God we serve! Blessings

  5. Brother I will share with you in this very special blog a song by Oscar Medina called Madresita, a Hispanic name for mothers as a reference to the fact that they are a special treasure.

    Madresita
I confess to you, that my love for you does not change, and even though sometimes
I don’t want to listen to your advice, never stop telling me that you love me, and that everything you say is for my good, many times,
I don’t understand your eagerness to correct me, to tell me, that the things, I do are not right, but then, when
I see your sorrowful eyes, it moves me to see you cry for me, My Father, God in heaven, make me good, to give, the best to this being, Let me not cause her sorrow, for she has suffered enough for my sake, she has suffered enough for me. Many times, I do not understand your eagerness to correct me, to tell me that the things I do are not right, but then, when I see your sorrowful eyes, it moves me to see you cry for me, My Father, God in heaven, make me good, to give, the best to this being, do not allow me to cause her sorrows, for she has suffered enough for me. My Father, God of heaven, make me good, to give, the best to this being let me not cause her sorrows, for she has suffered enough for me, for she has suffered enough for me….
