I’m In Pain, But I Will Press On

Hello everyone and God bless you all!  I have been having trouble writing the last few days because I am in pain again.  I have been fighting it all morning and I am exhausted.  I honestly don’t know what to write today and I have been praying about what the Lord would like to say, but all I can think of is “be honest about the pain.”  So, here I am doing just that.

Yes, I am in pain, but I will press on.  I am leaning into Jesus and resting in Him.  More like, I am totally exhausted and He is carrying me.  And you know what?  That’s okay.  Sometimes, all we can do is fall into the arms of Jesus and let Him hold us and comfort us.

I have been asking the Lord for mercy today.  I have prayed that He would pour out His Holy Spirit on me and heal me.  I know He can do miracles.  He has done them in my life before.  I am also asking for strength to endure.  I know the Lord will work all of this out for my good because I am His and He loves me.  I love Him and I have been called according to His purpose.  May His will be done!

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28

The Lord brought this verse to my mind yesterday and I prayed that He would empower me to do what it says:

“So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.”

1 Peter 4:19

Amen!  I know the Lord is faithful and I know He still has good plans for me and my family!  The Christian life is not a life void of suffering.  On the contrary, many of us bear a cross of suffering and we must press on for Jesus.  There is a reason.  He has not left us and He never will!  God has a will and a purpose and it will all be revealed in time.  May we overflow with hope as we trust in Him!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13

Jesus Christ is Lord!  May His will be done in all things!

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Jesus speaking in John 3:16

Grace and peace to you all!

  1. I pray that the Lord gives you relief today and always, Ryan! And what a beautiful home you have (both outside and inside of yourself). It’s a blessing the Lord inhabits both.

  2. It must be cold there. Today, here in Western Sydney, 38C is forecast. I am waiting for that change in temperature to soar after only 14C overnight. I feel the change with pain whether it jumps from cold to hot or hot to cold.

Take it easy and rest in Him.

  3. In Psalm 139, it says, “Lord you have examined my heart, and know everything about me…You both precede and follow me, and place your hand of blessing on my head.” I know he has blessed you in many, many ways, but I pray with all that I have, he finally heals you and continues to give you strength and answers all our prayers for your healing and joy, Ryan. God bless you, Ry. Love you.

  4. Praying for you Ryan. Have you tried “stem cell” treatment for pain? Many elderly people who attend my church have had wonderful relief from arthritis, chronic fatigue, joint pain, Epstein Barr, and many other painful maladies. Receiving treatments myself for a number of immune related issues.

  5. “Be honest about the pain”. I love that prompting, and glad you bravely followed. The truth is, love for God doesn’t keep us from adversity, but having Him with us in all things, as you illustrate through scripture here, brings such hope. Thank you for sharing!

      1. It’s good. Currently in Uni holidays. Family and I went to the beach last week. Had heaps of fun; the only downside was the sunburn (LOL). Going to see Frozen II next week on my brother’s 10th birthday.

      2. Nice, sounds great! Watch out for the Great Whites you have down there! My kids want to see that movie too. They have Thanksgiving break next week, so we are going too, brilliant! Have fun and God bless! P.S. Happy Birthday to your brother!

      3. LOL! So true! Like I remember stuff my parents and siblings have said/done/taught me that they flat out deny having done/said/etc. Like, my siblings and I were told that if we play Battleship and one of us looses, the loser was not allowed to go and see where the winner’s ships were that he did not hit. So, ever since then, my two older bros (including J-M) have done the exact opposite of that and insist that we were not told that. So, to show them how frustrating it was, I went and tried to do the same and they told me “No! We were told not to!” Ironic. (J-M’s not like that now….I think, LOL!)

  6. It’s certainly okay to not be okay. Many times we hide our frailty from others and try to hide it from Abba too. I’m so thankful to see you’re not doing either. This act draws fellowship from the body and should bring an outpouring of love and prayer. May our Father continue to carry you, nestle you in His arms and fill you will His Shalom 🙏🏽

  7. Thank you for sharing such encouraging Scriptures from your place of suffering. He really does carry us in the midst of the trials, even those that feel so long. May the Lord bless you with the same comfort that you have offered to all of us here today.

    1. Thanks Lisa. Yeah, I have been wondering that. I have actually had to stop taking most of them for now. The doctor told me this would happen. Celiacs can be going along just fine and feeling like they are getting better, then out of nowhere there is suffering again. It has to do with the Cachexia and my blood sugar too, so it could be any number of things. Nothing I eat has gluten. If that happened, I would most likely go into anaphylaxis again. The pain is due to the damage in my intestines. Thanks for the prayers. God bless!

  8. Praying for you brother . I know is hard to go through what you are going through. I understand. I am in a similar situation . Our only hope is knowing He is with us no matter what He allows in our lives. You have a wonderful family that loves you and is there for you. Even in our darkest valley we have hope. You know Ryan sometimes God’s ways are hard to understand. But we must trust Him. I always think of Jesus hanging on that cross and being forsaken by the Father . Yet His promise to us is that He will NEVER leave us nor forsake us.
    You are not alone Ryan!
    Prayers going up for you.
