Go Away Winter

May 20th snow

Hello everyone.  I have been fighting a cold for the last week and that is why I haven’t written a blog post since May 16th.  My wife had the cold first, then my son, and now me.  On top of that, our daughter got strep and needed antibiotics.  I have been taking care of the kids for the last couple weeks.  My wife and kids are much better now and they are back to school.  This is the last week of school before summer break…and it’s snowing again.  This is Colorado in late spring.  The beauty of living next to the Rockies also brings some crazy weather.  We are sick of being sick and we are really ready for summer!

I appreciate your prayers.  This has been the worst winter we have had in a very long time.  Our family was literally sick about every two weeks since Christmas.  It has been a very long winter and I am tired.  The coughing is driving me nuts and I have lost my appetite, which isn’t good when you only weigh around 135 pounds from Celiac.  I cry out to God daily, moment by moment, and cling to Him.  That’s all I can do.  His grace has been, will be, and is sufficient for me.

I took the above photo yesterday when it started snowing.  Here is another one:

You can see that everything is green and the leaves are coming back.  I have already mowed the lawn several times and I was going to do it yesterday, but it didn’t stop snowing.  This is what we woke up to this morning:

So much for mowing the lawn!  Our poor Service berry tree is sagging bad.  It is tough though and it will bounce back.  Just like a Christian with the armor of God on.  We might get beat down, but you better believe we are getting back up!

The little Colorado sparrows are tough too.  They are used to this.  They love to sit at the top of our maple tree.  They also like to play in the pine trees under the snow covered branches.  It looks like they are having fun out there!  They hop around inside the pine trees chasing each other from branch to branch.  Cute little birds.

I will be resting for a bit this week.  Hopefully all of this snow will be gone for the last day of school this Friday.  I am so glad summer break is just a few days away!  We are really looking forward to going to California in July!  The kids are pumped up to check out the new Star Wars land called “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” at Disneyland.  They are also excited about the pool at the house we rented.  I am ready for palm trees, the ocean, and hot weather!  Just not too hot while we are walking around Disneyland for three days.  I also had the chance to share Christ the last couple times we went to Cali, so I am always ready for the Lord to move in power (on the plane and on the ground).  There are no vacations from spreading the Gospel and there are a lot of people in Cali that need to hear God’s soul saving Truth, that’s for sure!

I will be back to writing more regularly as soon as I feel better.  In the meantime, I will still be answering comments and emails.  I will also be praying for God to bless us with summer.  Coloradoans are just done with winter.  We’re done, over it, bye bye, don’t come back for a real long time, like at least until November.  I mean really, it is 32 degrees today and it’s almost June!  Crazy Rocky Mountain weather.  Just like Olaf, we love summer too!

Disney’s Olaf (For my kids and because he loves summer)

Olaf I love summer

That’s all for today, but before I go, always remember this soul saving Truth:

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 10:9

If you want to be saved, then put your faith in Jesus and He will save you!  That is the powerful love of God who loves you more than you can imagine!

Grace and peace to you all!

      1. Yeah, I would not want to be a weather person trying to call the weather here in Colorado. 🙂 Tornado, lightning, and hail season is just around the corner too, but I’ll take that over snow right now. 🙂

      2. Yeah, hopefully our summer is calm and we just have nice warm weather and no tornado action. Several years ago, our house was struck by lighting. Seemed like we had the whole fire department here. No fire though because it was pouring rain during it. That was a crazy night. 🙂 Colorado is like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re going to get! 🙂

  1. I was wondering why you weren’t posting! Sorry to hear you’ve all been sick. Those photos are beautiful to me because it’s 90 degrees here, but I know that you are ready for it to be gone! I was supposed to visit there in June but finances are not going to allow it, so I won’t be coming up. Hopefully at another time. Praying for your healing. Btw, have you tried daily doses of apple cider vinegar? It sure seems to work for my husband in keeping him well, but he does not have celiac. I hope you get your appetite back soon. 🙂

  2. Augh! All that heavy snow to deal with when it’s spring, and annoying colds that don’t want to go away! I am sure sorry you have a cold with coughing, especially with no appetite. Gosh, praying it’s over today, Ryan! Glad the strep is done and kids are back to school. I can imagine Friday can’t come soon enough! The weather has been relentless everywhere! I am sick of rain and more rain, but counting myself lucky we don’t have SNOW. Praying for you, Ry, that you feel very good very soon. Love you and miss you guys.

  3. One month to-day till the first day of Summer. Hopefully you will have to not wait that long for the weather to be consistently warm. Florida and Disney World. What a delightful place to be. Trust your family will have a great time Ryan.

And here at the 53rd parallel N, east of the Canadian Rockies (where it can/does
snow any month of the year) I thought ours was the wildest weather of all 😉
Hope you’ll be feeling well soon—even before the snow has melted 🙂 💜 Jackie@KWH

  5. I cannot tell you enough how much I love looking at these pictures of snow! It has been so hot and humid here in Virginia! My daughter loves snow and asked if we could just move there. Haha

I hope you’re all feeling better soon! You’re all in my prayers!! 🙏

    1. Thanks Michelle! I hear you about the humidity. I couldn’t stand the muggy Illinois summers. It is very dry here and the heat is more like desert heat at times. We can get 90 degree days that are crazy hot. I wouldn’t mind that right now.🌞 Thanks for your prayers! God bless!

  6. I’m praying for your complete healing, Ryan. Earlier today I got the exciting message from a pastor friend that I had prayed for last week, has been miraculously healed. His doctor told him on May 7 that it would take at least 6 months for his infected wound to heal. The wound is healed now! Praise God!

It’s so wonderful that you share the gospel of Christ everywhere you go. I have a son and a grown granddaughter living in California that both need the Lord. I keep praying for the Holy Spirit to send witnesses to them.

  7. I have missed reading your posts, Ryan. I will be praying that everyone in your family recovers completely (no relapses) and that the Lord will bring out the sun (and summer) sooner than later! Rest well.

  8. I’ll be praying for you and your family, Ryan. They’re forecasting it to snow here tonight too. Thankfully, I don’t think it will be as much as you got. Crazy NoAZ weather. I think you guys sent it down to us. LOL. I agree, summer can’t come soon enough. God bless!

  9. I was just bemoaning our weather in New York minutes before reading your post. I think God was reminding me to be grateful as we don’t have snow. Spring is still struggling here too and I hear you that the weather and head colds get tiring. God bless you with speedy healing and sunshine soon!🙏🏻☀️

  10. I could not agree with the title of this post more! We actually saved a baby calf born yesterday morning during a blizzard! We brought it in the house, got it dry and warm, got it fed and brought it back out to mama in the evening and all is well, but for the SNOW! Make it stop already!

  12. Praying you’ll be better way before your vacation. Wow, the weather is really crazy all over the place. We are still getting lots of rain and it’s still very cool for this time of year. The snow always looks so beautiful 😄hopefully it’s gone by now.

  13. Yikes! I had no idea that you got snow this late in the year. Over here in Idaho we’re used to snow up until late March.
Over in Seattle they’re not used to any snow at all! That’s why they were willing to pay so much to have it plowed when they got a foot of it in February! I’m praying that you will get well soon!
    God bless!

  17. Sorry Ryan that I have been out of touch for a few days. I hope that your health improves quickly.

I have been following a mountain highway in Montana, the Beartooth Highway. Snow is hampering the work of crews to fully open the road.
