My Little Cross

Little cross 3

Our daughter forgot her dance outfit leaving for school today, so I dropped it off to her this morning.  On the drive over, the Lord spoke to me about the little cross I have in my truck.  I was at a red light and I looked over at my little cross and the Lord spoke a word into my heart: “A mustard seed of faith.”  He knows I have a lot on my mind.  I’m not discouraged or down, but my wife and I are believing and praying for big things right now and I appreciate the Lord encouraging my heart!  I know God can do big amazing things whenever He wants to and anything is possible for those who believe!

Little cross 1

This little cross is special to me because it’s broken.  I found it on the floor a couple years ago at Costco one day.  There was a bunch of people shuffling in and out of the store and I saw it on the floor by the carts.  The top is broken off, so it is kind of slanted, but I didn’t care.  I was having a very hard time with my suffering back then and when I saw that little cross it was like God had given me a brand new shiny gift!  It wasn’t broken to me.  It was perfect!  God encouraged my heart that day and He lifted me up and showed me He was with me!

It helped me get my focus back on Jesus that day and I have kept it in my truck ever since.  Our kids love it.  They always ask if they can hold it and I always say yes.  They hear me preach all the time, so they are very familiar with the cross.  You should hear our 8 year old son preach!  The Holy Spirit really moves through him!  One of these days I will write a blog featuring one of his sermons.  He loves the Lord and he knows the Word!  Sometimes he just starts preaching from the back seat while I’m driving down the road.  It’s great and the Lord really speaks encouragement through him.  He always has me saying, “Amen son!”

Little cross 2

The Lord reminded me this morning that He wants to do great things in my life and He loves giving His children great gifts and our faith doesn’t have to be any bigger than the little polished stone cross I found that day.  If you ever feel like your faith is broken and you feel abandoned, remember that any amount of faith in Jesus is faith enough and He will never abandon you!  He will never leave us nor forsake us!  Thank You Jesus!

“He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.”

Jesus speaking in Luke 17:6

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus.  “Everything is possible for him who believes.”

Mark 9:23

“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”

Jesus speaking in John 14:18

Have a blessed and encouraging weekend!

Grace and peace friends!

  1. Right with ya Brother! This message resonated in so many ways, even down to a cross on my back! About 18 or so years ago, I got a tattoo, and I got a cross. At the time, it wasn’t a spiritual reason as to why I got it, I just knew I didn’t want any garbage! Fast forward to this morning, as I stood in the mirror, the Lord began speaking to me about this cross and “my cross,” the one I have to bear. Much like what you feel, I feel and this message powerfully spoke to me! Praying that everything you need to do what the Lord has called and assigned for you to do, comes!

    “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him…Hebrews 11:6

    “For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
    But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
    Though it tarries, wait for it;
    Because it will surely come,
    It will not tarry…Habakkuk 2:3

    “For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. 17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. 19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek…Hebrews 6:13-20

    1. Amen, thank you sir! I pray every day that our kids will love and follow Jesus all their lives. I pray specifically that they would have an undivided heart to fear His Name and love Him first and have a great desire to know Him. God bless!

  2. Isn’t that something that God would send you such a meaningful gift when you needed Him! Such a beautiful story of God’s love for us, Ryan. I love that you keep it in your car as a reminder, and the kids ask to hold it, that is very special. Love you!

  3. Sometimes we forget what Jesus said about the mustard seed. When our faith is small, He is faithful to give us more if we ask Him. When I was a little girl, I had a mustard seed encased in glass that hung from my Bible. I will never forget it. Thanks for a meaningful message. Blessings, Ryan!
